You would have to contact your insurance company for a direct quote. A two door is considered a sports car and would cost more to insure. My step brother got a Toyota Celica that was about 3 yrs old and was paying over $3000 a year to insure it. He was in college with straight A’s as well. By contrast, I had a fully loaded truck about the same age and was paying less than $600 a year to insure it. I was also on my parents insurance. Your insurance is most likely to be high because you fall into several risk factors. Young inexperienced driver, a male, 17-25 years old. If your insurance agent is willing, try placing someone else as primary driver of your car and making you primary driver of a different car on your parents insurance. My advice to my step-brother was to get a four door sedan that was a few years older.
Will you be paying outright for the car or taking out a loan? If you are taking out a loan, you will need to have full coverage in the car for the cost of the loan. Other than that I would recommend full coverage anyway. If you can’t afford that, get liability in the least. It will cover any damage done to other vehicles/people/items. But it will not cover damage done to your own car.

Checking out new auto insurance is one of the easiest ways to save a lot of money. Get a easy quote at a website they most often give lots of prices.

I recommend http://www.lowratetoday.com

If you have a loan against the car you will have to have full coverage as the bank will require it.
Also, in addition to getting quotes on yourself also have your parents get quotes with you under their policy then cross compare the two amounts. If your parents rates go up less than you can get insurance on your own you might consider paying your parents difference.
