Auto Insurance. . . I hit a dog?

In: Auto insurance claims answers

Yesterday I hit a dog on a state road ( I live in Georgia). The dog and his presumed owner had been on the side of the road walking for some time. He was not on a leash and walked into my lane. I slammed on breaks but I still hit him. I think he died but I’m not sure. I pulled over to survey the damage to my SUV but still in shock didn’t notice any. I didn’t care about the owner or his dog, if he had cared that much he would have been properly contained. Moreover, I left. Upon arriving home and completing a reinspection I did notice where my bumper had cracked and my paint had chipped. I filed a police report and now I contemplating if I should file a claim with my insurance company ( Direct General :{ ugh ) I would like to know if my rates will rise and when it is time to switch companies will this appear on my license?

Try to deal it out of pocket, otherwise insurance rates will go up much more. You can check how quotes will change here – autoinsurance.noneto.com
