I’ve never seen a house pet that could bend metal but hey, what do I know? It cannot go onto your home owner’s policy, that insures YOUR HOME contrary to popular belief. This would have to go under the comprehensive coverage on your auto policy if you have full coverage.

No. It would go under your auto insurance. You would need to pay your deductible, and be prepared for them to completely question why your dogs would go kung fu on your car.

Good Luck!

Homeowner’s insurance will not pay for car damage. You’d have to claim under your auto comprehensive.

This would be a VERY odd claim.
Normally, dog attack claims would fall under homeowners insurance, but that is normally from biting a PERSON.
Also, I am not sure exactly how this would fall under Comprehensive, but I would call your auto insurance agent and let them figure it out.
If you have your auto and home with the same company than one or the other should cover it.
Be prepared for alot of questions though.

This would be an auto insurance claim. If your dog causes an injury to another person or damage to their property, it would be covered under your homeowner’s liability coverage. But, liability does not cover damage that is caused to you by your dog. The comprehensive coverage on your auto is for damage to the car that is not caused by a collision. That’s where this would fall.

Nope, homeowners won’t cover any damage to your car.

It only covers dog damage, if your dog does damage to SOMEONE ELSE’S property – not yours. Because it’s a liability coverage, and you can’t sue yourself, YOU cannot collect for damages under YOUR homeowners liability section.

Might want to get that dog to a vet – I can’t imagine that they don’t have damage to their mouth, after all that metal biting . . .
