I know that accidents and tickets are public record but if you have an auto claim that is not related to a ticket or accident is that information shared between companies?

Auto Insurance Companies can NOT access the dabatase of another insurance company (example: Geico / All State). Therefore they can not see the SPECIFIC records that are kept of you.
However, I don’t think that’s what you’re trying to ask.
You’re trying to find out if an insurance company will know if you’ve been in an accident, or if you have points on your licence for whatever reason… and the answer to that is YES, they can because that kind of information is available to them from the DMV reporting sources.

Yes, if we’re specifically looking for your claims history.

Yes they can, that is how they are able to compare rates and decide which policy is the best for the driver!

YES they can…I work for an auto insurance company and I am always sorting through the stuff that comes in on people. It is a company that is called ISO Search that is a database for most insurance companies. It gets any relevant information on the insured or the claimant. To see if there are any prior claims on them or on certain vehicles. How do you think they write your insurance policy…out of sheer goodwill on people? This a financial company of course they are going to research you!
