3 Jun 2010So my insurance lapse a couple months ago without me knowing it (stupid auto pay) and now currently looking at other insurance companies, but my question is would they know if my insurance through another company lapse at all? If not, then I’ll just say I’m still with them and get the cheaper rate like I was getting.

Any other insurance company will know because they will run some kind of audit on you before you sign up with their insurance. That is just how it works these days and you can blame technology on that. I wouldn’t lie to another insurance company because that will end up getting you in trouble.

As an agent, I have to run a C.L.U.E. report, insurance report and MVR before the policy is finalized. We know about tickets, accidents, prior insurance…each time it has lapsed or you have changed and even though we don’t see your credit score or anything on your credit, your rates can be influenced by your credit score….depending on the insurance carrier. Even if you lie, they will know.
