How long does an insurance company have to settle an auto accident claim?

In: Value auto insurance claims

I was in an accident about 5 months ago. I immediately reported the accident to my insurance company that night. I was told that I would most likely be at fault for the accident. Five months later though the insurance company of the other driver involved in the accident has not contacted my insurance company to file a claim. I am not sure if the driver reported the accident and his insurance company just hasn’t contacted mine or if he hasn’t reported the accident at all yet. If we both live in New Hampshire and the accident happened in New Hampshire, how many days does his insurance company have to contact mine? Does the other driver have a certain amount of days in which he is to report the accident?
