My laptop and GPS were stolen from my car back in December. I’m going to file a claim and try to get that money back from my parents homeowners insurance, but I’m just wondering what will happen if the police happen to find my stuff afterward? Will i have to give that money back or what?

If you can identify your items you will have to notify your insurance company. They will determine how to proceed. There most likely be deductible involved, so giving the value of your loss will be important to you. If you have receipts that would be better. Good luck.

If you file a claim, and If the insurance company pays you, and the stuff is recovered, it belongs to the insurance company. They will notify the police of their interest.
Now, if it’s recovered, and the ins co is notified, they will probably give you the first right to purchase it back.
If it’s recovered before payment is made, then you need to tell your insurance company, and withdraw the claim.

Usually, either you’d turn the stuff over to the insurance company, or you give them their money back and keep your stuff.

homeinsurance.awardspace.us – try this one. I just get home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.
