1 Jan 2010I told a friend at work how much I pay in insurance per month and he was appalled. He told me I could do much better if I shopped around a little. I have no incidences for the past 15 years. am college educated and in my early 40s. I need full coverage but want it cheap. Any Ideas?

call an insurance broker and get a quote. That is free to you. Some insurance companies will assign you a credit score, some do not. (They are proprietary models- not FICO) .Insurance companies assign additional risk depending on where you live- a big city may be more expensive than a suburb or rural location- more likelihood of damage to auto, or theft of vehicle. Additionally, it depends on what you drive.
If you purchase renter’s insurance or homeowner’s insurance, some companies will give you a discount if you place them both with the same carrier. So, call an independent agent for a quote, and then compare that to the direct insurance companies like Allstate, State Farm, etc.

The prior answer was right on the mark! However, why not ask your friend whom his agent is, or where he purchased his.

Something else you need to take into consideration is your coverage’s verses your friends. Does he have state minimum and you have 10 times that amount….Just beware that “cheap insurance” may end up costing you dearly if you don’t have the right protection.

autoinsurance.noneto.com – try this one. I personally have their car insurance, cause it is the cheapest for me in our area.
