You have to pay the deductible to your insurance company.
Usually, the insurance company sends you a check to have your car repaired.

Insurance companies are different and so are State laws concerning how this all evolves. I would say that normally, the deductible is paid by You to get the vehicle repaired.
Since your situation is different and will be paid by the insurance company, it has nothing to do with the insurance you have on your vehicle. You are carrying “uninsured motorist” insurance which covers your vehicle because the other driver doesn’t have insurance. Hope this helps. I think you would benefit by calling your Insurance Co. Good luck.

The insurance company will make the check payable to you, and deduct $500 from the amount they would have given you. Also, if you have a loan against the car the check will be made payable to you and the place (i.e. “Mr. Joe Smith and Chase Auto)

the deductible is your out of pocket amount before the insurance company covers you. You would pay that portion of the repair bill to the body shop or garage that fixes your car. Let’s say the bill is $ 850, and you have a $ 500 deductible. You pay the repair shop $ 500 and the insurance company pays the rest. Most insurance companies make the check out to you and the repair shop so both signatures are needed for them to get the money. This way, you have to approve the quality of the work before they get anything. Hope that helps.
